Highworth Town Council Unanimously Approves Continued Support for Highworth Library in 2026/2027

 Highworth Town Council is pleased to announce that councillors have unanimously approved continued funding to support Highworth Library for the 2026/2027 financial year, reinforcing the Council’s ongoing commitment to protecting and enhancing this vital community service.

As part of this decision, the Town Council will continue to support Swindon Borough Council by funding 50% of the library’s staffing costs, ensuring the library remains accessible for 30 hours each week. This partnership approach helps maintain a consistent, high-quality service for local residents.

Highworth Town Council will also be launching a dedicated page on the Council website to provide clear, regularly updated information about the library service, opening hours and events. Highworth Town Council will continue working closely with Swindon Borough Council to enhance the library offer, expand the range of activities available to residents, and promote the many community events delivered through the library.

Councillors highlighted the importance of the library as a centre for learning, connection, and community wellbeing, and reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring its long-term sustainability.
