highworth library

Highworth Town Council supports Highworth Library through purchasing additional hours to ensure the People of Highworth are able to access the wide variety that the library has to offer.

The Library is another major hub in the Town. It is the fourth biggest library in Swindon. As well as its main function it hosts activities including Job Club, children’s craft activities; adult colouring sessions, talks and computer training. It has a permanent exhibition space for Highworth Historical Society as well as display cabinets to promote the work of local artisans. 

              Highworth Town Council supports Highworth Library by funding two Library & Information Assistants for 15 hours a week each.

Lloyds Mobile Bank will return to Highworth on 23 September 2020 between the hours of 10:00am – 11:30am every other week, in the Old Library Carpark.

SCHOOLS

All of our schools perform well and are popular with parents. As well as producing high academic achievement they are delighted to share in community activities. All of them will share space with the community. The secondary school has recently built a new sports hall, dance studio and all – weather pitch, all of which are used by the public during the evenings and week-ends. The school also boasts an impressive Big Band that often performs locally. All of our school are a real asset to the Town.

Highworth united charities

The Trustees of Highworth United Charities invite residents of Highworth and South Marston who feel in genuine need to apply for a Relief of Need grant. Application forms are available from the Highworth Town Council Office or from the Lions Shop in Newburgh Place.

Application forms for the Educational Fund (supporting the education or training of young persons) are also available from the Council Office or the Lions Shop.

SECTION 14 – THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

 

NOTICE OF TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY FOOTPATH BLUNSDON 8

 

This Order is being introduced to allow installation of a new water main trunk from Highworth to Blunsdon and will prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along PROW FP 8 Blunsdon which leads to PROW FP8 Stanton Fitzwarren, situated off the B4019 to Mill Lane.

 

Alternative Route

Due to health and safety reasons no suitable alternative route can be provided.

 

The Order will come into force on the 5 August 2021 for 6 months.

This Order is being introduced to allow highway agreement works and will prohibit vehicles from proceeding on the B4019 at Blunsdon at the junction with the A419 between Holdcroft House and Hills Development Site.

 

Traffic to be diverted via A419 and A361 Highworth Road.

 

The Order will come into force on the 2 August 2021 for 6 months but it is expected works will take place on the 2 to 13 August 2021.

This Order is being introduced to allow works on the carriageway and will prohibit vehicles from proceeding on A361 Lechlade Road between the junction with Blackworth roundabout and the A417.

The Order will come into force on the 6 April 2021 for 6 months but it is anticipated the works will be carried out on the Monday 19 July 2021 over 4 nights only.

SECTION 14 – THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

 

NOTICE OF TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE OVER RIVER COLE, NORTH OF INGLESHAM

 

This Order is being introduced to allow works to Lynt Bridge and will prohibit vehicles from proceeding on the unclassified single lane road over River Cole linking the A361 with the A417 Lechlade Road.

Traffic to be diverted via A361 Lechlade Road to Lechlade, A417 Lechlade Road to Buscot, Snowswick Lane and B4019 from Coleshill to Highworth.

The Order will come into force on the 20 September 2021 for 6 months but it is expected works will take place from 20 September 2021 for up to 6 weeks only.

This Order is being introduced to allow works on the carriageway and will prohibit vehicles from proceeding on the A4361 Devizes Road and High Street between the junction with B4005 Moormead/Marlborough Road and Hay Lane.

Traffic to be diverted at the B4003 Avebury via Beckampton Road, the A4 to Quemerford, London Road, New Road and Curzen Road, Calne, A3102 from Calne to Wootten Bassett, A3102 Swindon Road to Spittleborough Roundabout, A3102 Great Western Way to Mannington Roundabout, A3102 Wootten Bassett Road, A4289 Kingshill Road and Bath Road, Devizes Road, Croft Road, Swindon Road, B4005 Moormead Road, Wroughton and vice versa

Notice Of Temporary Road Closure - Various Road Closures, Swindon

SECTION 14 – THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

 

NOTICE OF TEMPORARY ORDERS FOR VARIOUS ROAD CLOSURES, SWINDON

This Order is being introduced for highway resurfacing works and will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and parking when closures are in place on the following roads:

Radstock Avenue between Midhurst Avenue to Silverton Road.  Traffic to be diverted via Welcombe Avenue, Marlowe Avenue, Shaftesbury Avenue, Midhurst Avenue and vice versa
Albion Street between William Street to Cambria Bridge Road (to be phased.) Traffic to be diverted via William Street, Cambria Bridge Road, Cambria Place, Faringdon Road, Westcott Place and  Kingshill Road for phase 1 and  Faringdon Road, Westcott Place, Kingshill Road, William Street, Cambria Bridge Road, Cambria Place, Faringdon Road,  Marlborough Street and Joseph Street for phase 2.

Bourne Road between Akers Way to Moredon Road.   Access to be maintained

Kennet Road between Dunbar Road to Kerrs Way traffic to be diverted via

Dunbar Road, Inveray Road, Kerrs Way and vice versa

Station Road, Highworth, between A361 to St Michael’s Avenue traffic to be A361 Westrop, St Michael’s Ave and vice versa

Uxbridge Rd & Godolphin Close.  Access to be maintained.

The Order will come into force on the 27 September 2021 for 18 months but the road closures will only be put in advance following advance notice of dates on site and as/when required.  It is anticipated the resurfacing works will take place between 27 September 2021 to 13 October 2021.
