Highworth Town Council supports Highworth Library through purchasing additional hours to ensure the People of Highworth are able to access the wide variety that the library has to offer.

The Library is another major hub in the Town. It is the fourth biggest library in Swindon. As well as its main function it hosts activities including Job Club, children’s craft activities; adult colouring sessions, talks and computer training. It has a permanent exhibition space for Highworth Historical Society as well as display cabinets to promote the work of local artisans.

Highworth Town Council supports Highworth Library by funding two Library & Information Assistants for 15 hours a week each.

Lloyds Mobile Bank will return to Highworth on 23 September 2020 between the hours of 10:00am – 11:30am every other week, in the Old Library Carpark.

Notice of Closure of C117 (Queens Road) Hannington

The C117 (Queens Road) will close to all vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians, and horse riders from approximately 6.30 am on Thursday 24 March 2022 (near to Staplers Lane) for a maximum of 10-days, to allow Thames Water to put the new mains water pipe across the road. Kier (Thames Water contractors) will be doing all they can to minimise the length of time the road is closed and are hopeful that the work will be completed within 5-6 days. However, this is dependent upon them not encountering any problems.
Whilst the road closure is a major inconvenience for everyone in the village and beyond, the work does need to be carried out, and due to the small width of the road and the depth of the excavations required, there is no way that the road can be left partially open or be put under traffic light control.
The Keir team will be working 12-hour days. They cannot unfortunately work 24-hour days as the work being undertaken is specialist in nature and there are only so many people available to undertake it. If the crew worked 24-hours they would then need to take 12-hours off straight after. Which means the works would not be completed any faster.
The Parish Council did ask if any of the footpaths to Highworth could be reopened to allow people to walk to Highworth if they wished to during the road closure, but it is not possible due to the works around them that are still taking place.
The diversion route is via Lushill, Castle Eaton, A419, Blunsdon and vice versa. There are of course other routes that can be taken if you do not wish to use the A419 Seven Bridges junction. Schools transport, waste management, and emergency services have been advised of the closure.

I write to inform you of the upcoming improvement works at Brewery Street Car Park. The location of the site extents of the works are attached to this email.

The purpose of these works is to replace the deteriorating surface of the car park in order to increase its life span and to provide a safer and better running surface for all car park users.

These works involve resurfacing of the car park, the installation of new road markings and associated activities.

The works are provisionally programmed to commence from Friday 1st April 2022 for 1 week. However, this duration may over run slightly due to uncontrolled circumstances such as plant breakdowns, unfavourable weather conditions or the need to carry out additional repairs discovered during the construction works. It is important to note that the car park will be closed over the weekend during this programme of works.

There will be advance information signs erected on site giving confirmed start dates and letters going out to nearby residents.

During the works period the car park will be closed and parking unavailable to the public. It is essential that the areas remain un-trafficked until the new material has set, as early use could lead to premature failure. Site Operatives will be readily available to provide motorists with assistance.

Non-Fee Off Street Parking Places Consolidation Order 2003 Amendment No.1 2022 - Newburgh Place

STATEMENT OF REASONS
Following the introduction of the School Safe Environment Zone (SSEZ) at Westrop

of traffic (including pedestrians), or

the road runs, or
c. to improve the environment for local residents

Thames Water - Wessex Way W/c 11th April 2022

We’re going to be installing a new manhole chamber on our surface water sewer in the verge on
Roundhills Mead, in the location highlighted on the mapping below. This work is due to
commence on 11 April.

The work will require traffic management and is expected to take approximately 10 days
to complete.
Following this, we’ll be installing an over pump at this location, which will pump surface water
into the nearby the ditch. We anticipate the over pump will be in situ until the end of June. I’d like
to assure you sound barriers will also be present to ensure minimal disruption.

As you may know, there’s been issues with the manhole cover situated in the road, next to the
verge. On occasion, with rainfall, the pressure of the flows coming through the surface water
sewer, has caused the manhole cover has come off, which is a potential safety hazard. We
know, there are additional flows coming through the surface water network, which have
contributed to this and are being investigated. Therefore, we’re hoping the over-pump will
mitigate the risk of this happening again, whilst we continue with our investigations.
